Delta Football Association (DFA) Chairman, Chief Ken Nwaomucha, announced with great enthusiasm that the highly anticipated second edition of the state’s football league is all set to kick off next month.

A total of 24 competitive teams will passionately vie for the prestigious championship, with the added incentive of a mouthwatering N1.8 million prize money awaiting the triumphant squad.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd at an enlarged Delta State Football Association congress, which also served as the platform for the league draws, Nwaomucha revealed the exciting reward structure.
The ultimate champions will be bestowed with a substantial N1 million cash prize, while the second and third-place winners will be awarded N500,000 and N300,000 respectively, making it a fiercely contested battle for both honor and financial gain.
Amid cheers and applause, Nwaomucha unveiled the carefully planned schedule for the matches, with the bustling stadiums of Oleh, Sapele, and Asaba set to host the adrenaline-packed showdowns.
However, the league’s commencement faced a slight delay due to a lack of funds, as last year’s sponsor, Betnaja, did not participate this season.
Nevertheless, the DFA Chairman assured everyone that the necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a seamless and successful competition, promising a thrilling display of football talent in the coming weeks.
With a firm belief in the spirit of sportsmanship, Nwaomucha called upon all participating teams to uphold the sanctity of the game by strictly adhering to the rules and regulations.
He also urged the coaches to maintain decorum at the sidelines, emphasizing that their behavior would significantly influence the conduct of their players on the field.
