Nigeria will begin their World Cup campaign against Tokyo 2020 Olympics gold medalists, Canada and Randy Waldrum is not fazed about his opponent as he soaks in the pressure of the highly anticipated game.

Assessing the level of their readiness in an interview with NFF TV, the American tactician whose team is pitted in the same group as Canada, Republic of Ireland and host Australia admitted that the atmosphere in the camp is optimistic and energetic.

“The team atmosphere is being very good, the players are working really hard and the talent level is good. The training with the girls has been fun to watch.”

“We have talents and if we can maximize this ten days of our training camp, organize ourselves the way we want, especially defensively then we can be successful, I believe in the players,” he allayed.

Speaking on sidelined players – “no injury worries of any sort, just a couple of knocks which really concerns me a little bit on some players but outside that, it’s all healthy and it’s all about the performance and how we play.”

“I am confident that we will make it out of the group stage, all the focus is been on Canada quite frankly and we know how important that first match is going to be to us and we need to get something out of it.”

“The result doesn’t mean it’s the end of our group play but it will be a big shot for us to get something out of that match and I’m confident that the players can do it,” Randy emphasized.

“The most important thing is we have to speak to the players individually and very confidently, they will get something out of the match,” the head coach assured.
