Correction Boys and Benue Buffaloes were the giant killers as they defeated defending champion Kano Pillars and former champion Safety Shooters respectively on day 8 of the Ardova Handball Premier League 2023 phase 1 ongoing in Benin City, Edo State.
The shocking defeats saw Correction Boys standing tall above Safety Shooters with a well fought 21-20 victory to the amazement of fans who were watching the streamed game online and pundits as well on Sunday.
As if that was not a shocker enough for one day, Benue Buffaloes, who are 7th of the league table as at match day 7, did the unthinkable by defeating defending champion 28-27.
Other results in the men category saw Rima Strikers defeat Confluence Stars 25-21 while Niger United easily saw off Police Machine with a 31-16 victory.
Tojemarine Academy continue to lead the league table as they defeated Bendel Dynamos 33-19 while Lagos Seasiders defeated De Defenders 22-20.
In the women category, Rima Queens defeated Plateau Peacocks 23-17 while Bayelsa Queens have won two games on a bounce after defeating Benue Queens 29-20.
Defender Babes edged Delta Force with a 26-19 victory while Safety Babes outscored Seasider Babes to earn a 42-29 victory.
Imo Grasshoppers poor form of run continue as they lost to Bendel Dynamos 24-23.
