As Rangers International of Enugu prepare for their next match in the CAF Confederation Cup, one of The Flying Antelopes’ long time ago past players, Michael Emenalo has recalled the glory days he enjoyed with the Coal City club.
The Enugu club will play the first leg of their Confederation Cup play-off away to Bantu FC of Lesotho next weekend, and sports247.ng reports that Emenalo remembers that the last match he played for the club was in the then CAF Champions Cup.
Emenalo who is now technical director of AS Monaco of France, after holding same position at Chelsea of England, also reeled out several names of star players that were in the squad with him back then.
The then left-back, who went on to star for Notts County in England and played for Nigeria int he Super Eagles’ maiden World Cup outing at USA ’94, took to social media to reveal his ‘refreshing’ memories.
Emenalo recounted: “Still refreshing the memories of my last match with Enugu Rangers was in 1985 in the African Champions (Cup) at the Amadu Bello Stadium Kaduna.
“These are my team mates as at that time, Paul Obiakor, Jude Agada, Ikechukwu Ofoje, Benedict Ugwu, Charles Okonkwo, Emeka Akabueze, Christian Isiadinso, late Alloysious Atuegbu, Ifeanyi Onyedika, Louis Igwilo to mention but a few.
“The name of the club (we played against) is A. S. Kalon stars of Guinea.”
