Federal Government Promises Support For Teqball Development In Nigeria

President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engr. Habu Gumel, who is the leader of the Nigerian Contingent for the 2nd African Beach Games and also the President, Nigeria Teqball Federation (NIGTEQ) promised Federal Government support to the federation to ensure further development of the sport and adequate preparation for the athletes participation in the world Beach Games slated for Indonesia in August, 2023 if their Hammamet achievement eventually qualify them for the event.

Gumel made the statement when he visited the Nigeria Teqball Team in El Mouradi Hotel in Hammamet, Tunisia to appreciate the athletes on their landmark achievement of winning one gold and two silver medals for Nigeria in the sports first major championship appearance in the continent.

Mr Ndudi Edede, the General Secretary of Nigeria Teqball Federation (NIGTEQ) and also the leader of Team Teqball in Hammament thanked Engr. Gumel for his surprise visit to the team camp which he said is a huge motivation to the athletes. He assured the President of excellent performance each time her athletes represent Nigeria in any event as the federation has worked so hard to take the sports to the level it is in Nigeria at the moment.

It is worthy of note that the Nigeria Teqball Team came first among the 12 Nations that participated in the men’s single, men’s doubles and mix doubles categories in teqball events in the 2nd African Beach Games in Tunisia, Hammamet 2023
