It has been confirmed by the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) that the Nigeria Handball Premier League will be held in Benin City, Edo State, from June 30 to July 12, 2023.
HFN Secretary General Almu Umar Lambu said the Premier League will have 22 teams, including 12 men’s teams and 10 women’s teams.
By June 25, 2023, all player transfers and loans, as well as player registration, should be completed by the clubs.
In Benin City, the games will be held at the indoor sports hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and the Etete Sports Complex.
The premier League is a promotional league wherein four teams (two each in the men and women category) get promoted to the top tier handball premier league.
Relegated teams from the premier league and teams seeking promotion to the top tier are expected to participate.
