TRS Promotions has highlighted the importance of establishing a lasting legacy for
traditional games in order to promote youth development, social cohesion, and showcase
the country’s potential in sports and tourism.
The General Manager of TRS Promotions, Tunde Amosu, revealed that the inaugural Lagos State International Draught Championship is scheduled to take place from November 1 to December 16, 2023, at Lagos’ Teslim Balogun Stadium.
Amosu stated that the event aims to bring attention to the beauty of the traditional game of draughts and highlight the sporting and tourism potential of Lagos.
The draught championship is a collaborative effort between TRS Promotions, the Lagos State Sports Commission, and the Rattawu Lagos State Council as a media partner.
Amosu further announced that the winner of the tournament would receive a prize of N3
million, with N2 million for the first runner-up and N1 million for the second runner-up.
Consolation prizes will also be awarded to other participants.
TRS Promotions is dedicated to the development of traditional sports in Lagos State, aiming to provide a platform for youth to showcase their talents and enhance sporting facilities in the state. The Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafar, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sports development and emphasized the importance of engaging youth to discourage negative behaviors.
