Humphrey Gabriel’s Double Double inspired Third ranked Taiwan Beer win over second-best Bank of Taiwan. Taiwan Beer (10-14) defeated Bank of Taiwan (14-10) 86-80 on Sunday to end their 5 games winless streak. Taiwan Beer made 30-of-38 charity shots (78.9 percent) during the game. Bank of Taiwan was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch.
It was a good game for Nigerian forward Gabriel Humphrey (195-1997) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. American Tavarion Nix (201-1992, college: Midwestern St) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Taiwan Beer players scored in double figures. American Max Mahoney (203-1998, college:Boston U) replied with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 15 rebounds and swingman You -Hsu Chen (195-1990) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Bank of Taiwan.
Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Taiwan Beer maintains third position with 10-14 record having six points less than leader Yulon Luxgen. Bank of Taiwan at the other side keeps the second place with ten games lost.
Fourth-ranked Changhua (8-16) made lots of trouble for first ranked Yulon Luxgen (16-8) on Sunday. Yulon Luxgen managed to secure only three-point victory 78-75. However their fans expected easier game. Yulon Luxgen made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game.
The best player for the winners was American power forward Walter Sharpe (206-1986, college: UAB) who scored 7 points, 16 rebounds and 9 assists. Guard Min -hao Ke (180-1992) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Yulon Luxgen’s coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Julian Boyd (203-1990, college:LIU Brooklyn) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds and point guard Hao-Wei Chiang (175-1998) added 11 points and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Yulon Luxgen have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-8 record. Newly promoted Changhua stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost.
