Chairman of Bayelsa Queens Pastor Robin Aprela has hailed the Prosperity girls for qualifying for the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women Premier League NWFL super six playoffs.
The reigning NWFL champions beat Osun Babes 1-0 in their penultimate fixture to secure a super six place finishing second behind neighbors Delta Queens on 22 points.
Pastor Aprela in a statement commended the girls’ resilient spirit which they put up throughout the regular season, noting that it is time to focus on the super six which would enable them return to the continent.
He expressed happiness that Bayelsa Queens have continued to be worthy ambassadors of the state with their superlative displays last season to this season having finished third in the CAF Women champions league in Morocco.
The clergyman commended the coaching crew for a job well done, stating that their technical and tactical inputs provided the tonic in their qualification, calling on the girls not to see their victory as the end of the contest but rather a wake-up call for tougher challenges during the super six.
Pastor Apreala lauded the governor and his deputy senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for the support given to Bayelsa Queens, stressing that continuous motivation by the government played a significant role in their success.
He described the Prosperity administration as a story of sporting glories, recalling that the moral and financial support being given to Bayelsa Queens have made them stamp their dominance in female football in the country.
