Akwa United U-15 team have departed Uyo for Ogun state for the 2023 NPFL/La Liga Youth League competition scheduled to take place at Remo Stars stadium, Ikenne, Ogun state.
A team of 26 players have been selected by the coaching staff of the U-15 team to represent Akwa United at the Youth League which will run from 13-29 April, 2023.
All U-15 teams of the twenty NPFL clubs have been drawn into four groups of five teams each.
Akwa United U-15 team have been drawn in Group A alongside Abia Warriors, Doma United, Kwara United and Shooting Stars.
Akwa United U-15 team is handled by youthful UEFA licensed coach Edward Edemekong, and he is assisted by coach Peter Gabriel.
Addressing the team before their departure in the presence of Management and other staff the Chairman of Akwa United Elder Paul Bassey urged the players to be dedicated and focused while maintaining a high level of discipline and professionalism during the competition.
“Let me congratulate all of you for making the 2023 U-15 team that will be representing Akwa United at the 2023 NPFL/LA LIGA Youth League.
“This is an opportunity many young players are looking for to kick start their footballing career and you are all lucky to have this opportunity so I want you to make the best out of it.
“Remember you are all representing Akwa Ibom State and Akwa United Football Club, therefore, ensure you listen to your coaches, be dedicated, remain focused and put in your very best for the team. On behalf of Akwa United we wish you a successful outing in Ikenne”.
Replying on behalf of the team, the Team Manager of the U-15 team Mr Anietie Christo Davis thanked the management of Akwa United for the support and encouragement and promised that the youngsters will make the state proud at the competition.
Resplendent in their outing attire, new boots and kits, the boys prayed asking God for favours and journey mercies.
