Head coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote, said his team would have got something from the match day ten tie away to Akwa United but for the wastefulness and carelessness of his players.
The Oluyole Warriors conceded two quick goals at the start of the second half, having held the host to a nil-all draw in the first 45 minutes, to crash 0-2 to the homers.
In his post-match interview after the encounter, a visibly disappointed Ogunbote said he was sad the Oluyole Warriors lost the game, despite having it in control, particularly in the first half.
‘I think it was one of those things you expect in football. I didn’t expect us to lose the game, we had control of the game, but we had some careless moments and we paid dearly for it.
“You can see the game, sometimes, if you are careless and wasteful, you pay dearly for it. We had to beg chances that we would have converted and which could have made the difference, but we didn’t”.
“We conceded two goals through carelessness and the boys allowed that to weigh them down, they gave up immediately after the second goal was conceded.
Despite the defeat, the former Remo Stars gaffer remains hopeful of a change in fortune for his side, saying the team will shrug off the disappointing loss and move on to the next match.
“We move on from there and take the positive from the game. I am encouraged with the new shape of the team but we need to work on our commitment level”, said Oracle as the widely traveled sweat merchant is fondly called.
