The Jos Beach Volleyball Fiesta, which started on March 24, ended at the weekend with Kada teams dominating the event that featured over 30 teams from across the country.
At the end of the competition, Kada II won the gold medal, Youth and Sports took silver, while G-Ranks won the bronze medal in the men’s category.
In the women’s category, Kada I won the gold, EdBac the silver, and Kada II won the bronze medal.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, member, of Nigeria Beach Volleyball Commission and event organizer, Bolcit Barshep-Amakiri, said the competition was organized to encourage beach volleyball at the grassroots.
Barshep-Amakiri, who is also a member of the Plateau State Volleyball Association, said the turnout was encouraging, adding that the participants inspired her and did justice to the theme of the fiesta, Pair to Inspire.
“When this idea was conceived, we thought we would get a few participants within the north-central region, only to get people coming from Lagos, Anambra, Benue, and other states; this blew our minds.
“The turnout by the talents that were displayed did justice to the theme and also inspired me indirectly. We clearly need to take this to the next level and make it a yearly event,” she said.
