Ogun State based Nigeria National League side, Stormers Sports Club have appointed and unveiled former handler of Stationery Stores, Shakiru Lawal as their new head coach.
The former Shooting Stars and Julius Berger player has taken over the managerial affairs of the club and will lead the Stormers into the 2022/2023 Nigeria National League Season.
Shakiru Lawal is famous for scoring the first ever goal at the National stadium, Abuja for Shooting Stars, he found the back of the net with only five minutes into the game against Sunshine stars on April 8th 2003.
In his playing days, he was a midfielder filled with numerous qualities, a delightful ball user, energetic marker and a fantastic ball passer with a sharp vision for goals
Apart from Shooting stars and the defunct Julius Berger FC, Shakiru Lawal also played for Gateway United FC where he later worked as a coach, and Gabros football club.
The newly appointed coach told the media team of Stormers that he’s ready for the challenge and is already looking forward to their first game of the season.
“I know what the management and supporters want, I’m hopeful that we can take the team to greater heights”
The General Manager of the Club, Mr. Lekan Kelani made it known that everyone involved in the project is hopeful that the development will yield positive results.
The team will begin its NNL season this weekend with a game at home against Ikorodu City Football Club at the Remo Stars stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State
