Former sports minister, Bala Bawa Ka’oje has added his voice to growing doubt about the ability of Elche of Spain goalkeeper, Francis Odinaka Uzoho.
Speaking to sports247.ng ahead of Nigeria’s double-fixtures in the Afirca Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya, Ka’oje says he is not convinced about Uzoho’s ability.
Though the keeper on loan from Deportivo La Coruna was Nigeria’s first choice shot-stopper at the World Cup in Russia and continues lining out as the Eagles number one, Ka’oje says Uzoho’s yet to be fully tested.
However, Ka’oje hinted that there would not be any room for excuses should the Eagles fail to make it to the next Africa Cup of Nations, as he says missing the last two editions must not be repeated.
“Whatever it takes, the Super Eagles must ensure they get victory at home against the Libyans.
“I am not yet convinced that the young goalkeeper (Francis Uzoho) is the best we have as our number one, but we just have to cope with what the coach is doing and hope the team gets it right.
“They cannot afford to fail qualifying for the Nations Cup for the third straight time running. This time, we must qualify and do well over there.”
