The Assistant Secretary of the Ogun State FA has expressed his joy at having a team from the state qualify for the CAF Club football competitions and is hopeful Remo Stars can repeat the feat Sports247.ng reports.
Remo Stars played in the CAF Confederations Cup last season after qualifying from the league which happened to be first time in 27 years a team from the state achieved such feat courtesy Abiola Babes.
“It was an appreciable gift as it was the first time a team in the state would qualify for a CAF competition after 27 years when Abiola Babes did it last”, Adeleke said.
He also set his expectation as well as the entire FA having faith in Remo Stars to qualify once again and do better this time in the 2022/23 Abridged NPFL season based on the experience they now have.
“We’re hoping Remo Stats will do better and qualify again for the CAF competition. We trust them to improve on the experiences despite having little experience then and we’re looking forward to a better cohesion and performance”, Adeleke concluded.
Remo Stars have been grouped in group A along side former champions Akwa United and Enyimba FC as well as deep rivals Shooting Stars and they open their campaign against El-Kanemi warriors at home.
Other teams in the group include Nasarawa United, Bendel Insurance, Plateau United, Kwara United and Gombe United.
