Nigerian female Muslim football star Zulfah Abdulazeez has opened up to fans via her Instagram page on why she loves training with men Sports247.ng reports.
Popularly known as “hijab baller”, Zulfah’s talent didn’t go unnoticed after she submitted an entry for the Neymar Jr Five A-side was selected as one of the few globally to be in Qatar for the 2022 finals.
“Many people have asked why I love training with men and not women like myself but the thing is, I gain strength from them, they make me stronger and most of them are usually my friends”, she said in Yoruba dialect.
“Although our friendship ends when it’s time to play on the pitch so many times they hit me like every other player and when they do, I many times end up being carried from the sidelines. However, they more they hit me, the more I become stronger and better when I return to the midst of my fellow ladies”, Zulfah added.
Zulfah also featured for the Rainieri Ladies FC in the 2021/22 season of the Alat Social Liga, helping her side defeat Saints Women FC to book a final date with defending champions Alimosho Ladies, who made it back to back championship win.
