Nigerian football golden age will be back soon -Pinnick

Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Melvin Pinnick has stated that the glory days of Nigerian football will soon return as there is a deliberate program towards that realization.

In 2018, the Super Eagles played at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and also qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, the first time since 2013 with the Super Falcons also winning the Africa Women Cup of Nations for a record ninth time in Ghana and Pinnick has revealed that with the success of 2018, despite all the crisis, it shows that the country’s pride in football is on its way back.

The former Delta FA boss has also praised the synergy between the federation and its partners to making the Eagle’s brand great again as they look ahead to the 2019 Nations cup. “Our partners have been amazing especially in the year 2018; their support for the Super Eagles heading into the World Cup and their continued support during the AFCON qualifiers and football at large have not gone unnoticed. And we hope that in 2019 we will continue these partnerships.”

On plans to bringing back Nigerian football to the way they used to be in the 90’s Pinnick cited the German national team as a perfect example of perseverance and long term planning as it took their national team fourteen years of hard work and consistent system planning to become world champions in 2014 and dominate world football before their recent decline.
