Coach Akande Fatia Technical Director Dannaz Fc has backed the Nigeria team to cause upset in the TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON Games as he believes that Ladan Bosso’s has what it takes to deliver the goods with his tactical prowess instincts.
Fatia said this after CAF released the fixtures for the tournament yesterday with Nigeria placed in the same group as host, Egypt, Mozambique and Senegal.
“To me, any age grade competition regardless of the category, Nigeria’s chances are always bright because we’ve got abundant talents around and so as much as possible, we always have a very good chance in any of such competition that we are going to be involved,” he stated as he seeks to quench the fear of many who believes Nigeria is placed in a very tough group which makes it impossible for the team to scale through.
“But in such situation, a lot of factors comes to play and one of them has to be the preparation of the team that is selection of players. The good thing there is we have an experienced coach who can do justice to that, hopefully, that will be done.”
“Once we have good preparations and right players selected, the next thing is thier approach game by game and everything can be history.”
“Concerning the group of death, somebody like me I don’t believe in that phrase because in the game of football, every game is important. The approach is different but a lot of factors determine the game of football.”
“On paper, we might look at it with the name of the country, the anticidents and the saying maybe it’s a group of death because for you to win a major competition, you need to beat the very best, win and that’s the only they can give you a chance of winning such competition.”
