Otunba Sunday Dele-Ajayi, Board member of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Ondo State Football Association Chairman on Monday paid a visit to Elder Dickson Adejube, a retired FIFA referee and one time NFF board member at his residence in Akure.
Dele-Ajayi said the visit was imperative to check on the elder statesman who had contributed immensely to the development of the games of football in Ondo State and beyond.
He revealed that many of today’s football administrators, including him learnt so much especially upright virtues from Elder Adejube hence should not neglect him in his old age.
Ajayi said he had overcome the hurdles that had hindered him from checking up on him regularly and promised that he would not be far from the ex service man.
The NFF board member also assured Adejube that Nigeria’s inability to qualify for the FIFA World Cup has been put behind however plans are underway to ensure that the country does not miss out on important future tournaments.
“I have come here to check on you and not that I have abandoned you. You taught us to be upright and diligent in all our doings. Now that I have overcome some of my drawbacks, I will be around to visit you regularly,” he said.
Responding, Elder Adejube said he was happy that one of his own remembered to check on him.
Adejube said he had been following with keen interest, developments of football within the State and Nigeria.
He added that he would be readily available for advice on how to move the games of football forward in Ondo State and the country in general.
Adejube prayed that God will continue to protect the Ondo FA chair and that no evil fashioned against him and his development plans would come to fruition.
