The elections into the new executive board of Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC that was held December 15, 2022 in Jalingo, Taraba State, has continued to elicit excitements in the Nigeria Sports community.
The highlight of the elective congress was the election and emergence of Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida as the new Treasurer of the NOC, for a four year term. Musa Kida who is also the President of Nigeria Basketball Federation defeated the incumbent Treasurer, and longest serving member of the Executive Committee, Alhaji Mohammed Bappa, who has served for 24 yearby, by 22 to 18 votes, at the keenly contested elections.
Also elected was the incumbent President of the Committee, Engr Habu Gummel, who defeated his Challenger, Engr Sani Ndanusa, who was the former Minister for Youth and Sports Development by 21 votes to 19 votes.
Tunde Popoola is making a return as the Secretary General of the NOC, after 4 years. He defeated two other candidates to emerge winner.
Other elected officers are, Chief Solomon Ogba- 1st Vice President; Engr Ishaku Tikon -2nd Vice President; Mr Olumide Oyedeji- 3rd Vice President; Mrs Olabisi Joseph – 4th Vice President; Alh. Abdullahi Mohammed-Deputy SG and Mr Tony Nezianya- PRO.
The newly elected Executive committee members are to serve for a term of four(4) years, 2022 to 2026.
