The Anambra Football Association Chairman Gen. Chikelue Iloenyosi led the NPFL team who came on a stadium inspection from Abuja to rate the Awka Township Stadium in readiness for teams that will use it for the upcoming season. The NPFL team was led by Henry Chijioke with Administrative Secretary of Enugu Rangers Barr. Ferdinand Ugwuarua present. Enugu Rangers, Lobi Stars and Nnewi United are bidding to use the Awka Township Stadium as their base for the upcoming Nigerian league season.
Iloenyosi expressed optimism in the Awka stadium passing the inspection exercise and being approved for these clubs sides to use in the upcoming season.
“This will be good for the great people of Anambra State. To have top clubs use our stadium and give us the vibes of league football. I can’t tell you the positive impact of this to our people. The economic implications are many; from hotel services, to the groundnut seller all will feel the impact of having these big teams play in our stadium.”
“Then for families, these will serve as a relaxation venue for them on weekends especially the football loving ones. We will do our best to reawaken the passion for football in our people in following the local league. And I promise the teams that will use this stadium, the enabling environment to succeed. Because we are a good host.”
The new NPFL season is yet to get a date but the IMC have been working in consonance with relevant bodies to get that done as quickly as possible. The Capacity Chairman was accompanied by his SA Media Myckie Chukwuebuka, the LFC Chairman of Ihiala LGA, Prince Michael JIMBAZ Mbaezue, the LFC Chairman of Nnewi North, Mr Ugo, CSO of the FA Mr Fabule and other FA staff.
