Aminu Umar scored one of the goals as Rizespor thrashed Fenerbahce 3-0 in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.
The winger got on the scoresheet in the game and although it was a deserved affair, he was thrilled to help his club to a vital three points.
“No game is going to be easy and they battled hard, and in the end it was a gritty win,” Aminu Umar told Sports247.ng.
“(The performance) shows that we have massive character but in the dressing room we know that we can knuckle down and play if we have to, but people know what we are about now.”
The former Nigeria U23 star admitted relief at his team’s first win of the season in the Turkish top flight.
“We were concerned after playing six games without a win.”
“The team resolved to end the poor run against Fenerbahce. We did it in style against all odds.”
“It’s a big relief for us to have picked our first maximum points of the league season,” he added.
