‘We Kicked Against His Decision To Play Football, We Wanted Him To Be Educated,’ Captain Henry Iyang Recalls Indecision Over Son’s Chosen Career Following Sealed Transfer To CD Leganese FC

Captain Henry Iyang, retired airline pilot, father of Buruj’s Football Academy goalkeeping sensation, Sunday Iyang has recalled how he stopped his son from playing football insisting that he wants him to get education just like every other children despite being severally advised by his teachers to put his son into sports following his sealed transfer to CD Leganese FC in Spain.

He narrated the ordeal, how he kicked against it and finally giving him an opportunity after his secondary school education in a tear jacked exclusive interview.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank the Chairman of the Academy, Waheed Salaudeen who has been taking care of him since he joined,” he began.

“Edet has come a long way, since his primary school, the teachers advised us several times to put in sport but we rejected because he has to go to school.”

“After secondary school, he said he wasn’t going to go further that he wants to go into sports and then, we decided to give him a chance, that’s how he got here.”

“His development and growth over the years is so impressive and unbelievable even to us, the Chairman adopted him as his son and has been taking good care of him, you don’t see that often everyday and everywhere. We won’t take his help for granted,” he promised.

“He did everything humanly possible to fulfill the dream of this lad begining from the very day that he was brought in here and now, here we are today, it’s the moment we all have been hoping for.”

“We won’t repay him with evil and I know Edet will give his best in this new phase of his life to make people who have massively contributed to his life proud.”
