The newly elected chairman of Lagos State football coaches association,
Tairu Adewale Hassan has insisted that his administration would focus more on Coaches’ welfare, education and other challenges facing his members in the the state.
Hassan disclosed this at the inauguration/investiture ceremony of new state executive of the association held on Friday at the Campos sports center, Lagos Island.
Hassan said he is worried the way football coaches have been disrespected by their employers saying that the association would do everything to make life better for the affiliated coaches in the state.
“My administration is focusing on the welfare of our members.Shool owners, proprietors of football clubs, academies are paying our members peanuts as monthly salaries and they don’t even give them respect they deserve so we want to start working on how we can make life better for our coaches,”he said.
Hassan said his administration would partner with corporate bodies in assisting the association to achieve its set targets.
He revealed that coaches would be trained and retrained on a regular basis so that their employers would accord them with respect and pay them a reasonable amount of money as a trained and professional coach.
“Aside the welfare of coaches we are going to look into, it is high time to educate our coaches too.This administration has concluded plans to train and retrain some coaches ahead of future challenges.It is going to be a continuous exercise and coaches should prepare for this in days to come,”he said.
The light skinned coach pointed out that the association would partner with health insurance scheme that would be of great benefits for the family of a deceased coach.
“Many of our colleagues die on duty, while some die because of one sickness or the other.If we partner with health insurance, I think the family of deceased coach would be assisted,” Hassan concluded.
He further disclosed that his exco members would embark on a visit to councils as a way of reconciling with the coaches who were still aggrieved at the last Lagos football coaches election.
