Ahead of the 2023 TotalEnergies AFCON games, CAF is currently hosting the delegates of Cote D’Ivoire for a three days preparatory workshop in Cairo, Egypt covering competitions, commercial marketing, telecommunications amongst many others.
Other topics to be covered include Hospitality, Medical, Safety and Security, Ticketing, Finance, Legal, Transportation and logistics and many other functional areas.
CAF General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba said: “I want to thank President Diallo and the LOC Chairman Mr Amichia for taking time and coming to Cairo for a knowledge exchange opportunity. This workshop is an important element of the planning process because we cannot wait for 2023, we have to intensify the planning now.”
He added: “We are going to achieve unprecedented success at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2023. I have no doubt in my mind that if we continue this close working relationship between CAF and Local Organising Committee, we will deliver the most successful TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations.”
Chairman of the LOC, Amichia said the workshop was a great initiative to align both CAF and LOC’s goals.
He said: “The Head of State (of Côte d’Ivoire) has given us only one mandate and that is to ensure we deliver a successful AFCON. From day one of the workshop, we have established that our goals are the same with CAF. We have to work hand in hand and in a harmonious way – to make sure that Africa can deliver a great event. People of Côte d’Ivoire believe in quality, they want to see good things. They are constantly asking for progress. From this workshop, we will be able to give detailed feedback. This workshop is key – we know we have a task but we also need to get all the detailed expectations so we can deliver.
The CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe will be in Cote d’Ivoire on 11 November 2022 for the signing of the Host Country agreement with the Ivorian government – a significant milestone in the countdown to the event as culled on CAF’s official website.
