The Olympic Eagles of Nigeria, made it to the final qualifying round of the U23 AFCON after a 2-0 victory over Tanzania in Ibadan, to take a 3-1 advantage win over two legs.
Water FC goalkeeper, Nathaniel Nwosu, who also featured for the U20 in the WAFU B tournament earlier this year, kept a clean sheet in goal which was his target as he expected Nigeria to go through.
“If we don’t win, we must not concede due to the away goal. So I felt, at worst, we end the game goalless but good for us as we were able to win the game”, Nathaniel told Sports247.
Speaking on the opportunity to represent the country, he said, “when given an opportunity, being able to use it well is very important because if you do that, it creates more opportunities”.
“I’m grateful to the coaching crew and everyone involved for the opportunity given to me to show myself”, he added.
The goalkeeper nurses the ambition of featuring for the Super Eagles and promised to make his fans proud when the time comes.
“My target is to play in a better place, in Europe and getting a chance to represent the senior national team. Once given the chance and called upon, it’s all about taking the chance, keeping focus and not getting distracted. I hope to get the senior team invitation and when I do, I’ll keep making everyone proud,” he concluded.
