Nigerian National League side, Gateway United, has seen their goalkeeper, Araromi Ibukunoluwa, move to Nigeria Professional Football League side, Niger Tornadoes FC for the coming season, Sports247 reports.
The goalkeeper who originally was a player of Remo Stars from where he was loaned to Gateway United, finally made the move to the top flight after being released by Remo Stars.
“I am so excited about the move because it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for a long time ago, to play at the higher level, the NPFL, and I’m glad it has happened”, Ibukun said.
Ibukun was in goal for Gateway United in the Nigeria National League Southern Conference Group B1 2022 season, kept all twenty-one games for the club without being substituted or missing a single minute of action all season long, helping the side to a second-placed finish, behind Bendel Insurance.
“I didn’t expect to get the move to the NPFL for the coming season because of my performance and stats last season, playing full time in all 21 games and I’m so sure I can do that in the NPFL if given the platform,” the goalkeeper told Sports247.
“I really need much time to prove myself in the league and I’m so so happy, excited to be here,” he concluded.
