The Super Falcons, Nigeria’s women’s national team, have been handed a difficult draw for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, reports Sports247.ng.
Nigeria has been drawn into Group B with Canada, the Republic of Ireland, and one of the hosts, Australia. The draws took place earlier on Saturday in Auckland, New Zealand.
Next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand, marking the first time there will be two host countries. The tournament is slated to run from July 20 to August 20, 2023.
The Falcons will begin their campaign against Canada on July 21, 2023, followed by a match against Australia on July 27, 2023. And in their final group game, they will face debutants the Republic of Ireland on July 31.
The Women’s World Cup will increase from 24 to 32 teams for the ninth edition of the competition.
