Director of Awesu Dynasty Foundation For The Less Privileged, Abdul-Azeez Adekunle Awesu has charged the youths in Ikorodu to use forthcoming inter wards unity football tournament to foster unity, friendliness and love among themselves.
Awesu disclosed this while addressing the representatives of the the 19 wards in Ikorodu taking part in the tournament.
He explained that the tournament is not designed to bring hatred,violence or hooliganism among the youths in Ikorodu but to ensure that all wards are fully participated in the much anticipated unity cup.
“This is the first time we are trying to unifying all the political wards in Ikorodu together through football.
Football is a tool that brings peace,love and friendliness among the youths so we are doing this to give all the wards an opportunity to raise football teams and fans so that the youths would be engaged throughout the period of the competition,”he said.
In his own comment, match cordinator, Ogunbunmi Abolore said the competition is organised to bring healthy rivalry among the wards in Ikorodu and urged the participating players to shun violence throughout the tournament.
Meanwhile the tournament would begin on 30, October at the police football pitch, Igbogbo, Ikorodu,Lagos.
