Everton manager Frank Lampard believes Alex Iwobi is one of the best players in the Premier League this season while also saying the Nigerian midfielder can do more.
Iwobi has flourished since Lampard took over as Everton manager in January. The 26-year-old has carried his excellent form into the new season, establishing himself as a key player at the club. He has three assists in the opening eight games of the season and was nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month last month.
Everton are 11th on the league table. On Sunday, October 9, the Toffees will host Manchester United at Goodison Park. Lampard has commented about Iwobi ahead of the game. He told the press:
“Since I’ve been here he hasn’t changed. He has been a fantastic player for me in whatever position I played him in last year.
“I’m just delighted he’s getting the recognition he deserves as being one of the top midfield players in the Premier League at the moment. That’s how I feel about him.”
Lampard also mentioned areas where Iwobi can continue to improve. He added:
“Can he add more to his game? Yes. In and around the final third, he can do more because his talent says so. In-game he can do more, he can assist more, maybe score himself a bit more, but I’m not complaining there, he’s been fantastic for us.”
