Alex Iwobi has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for September.
Iwobi has been included on the six-man shortlist following his outstanding performances for Everton in September. The midfielder started in two game’s for the Toffees. On Sunday, he assisted his team’s winning goal against West Ham and was named Man of the Match.
Iwobi also shone in the 0-0 draw between Everton and Liverpool in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on September 3.
He is up against Philip Billing (AFC Bournemouth), Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (Tottenham), Jacob Ramsey (Aston Villa) and Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) for the top monthly accolade.
Iwobi has made seven league appearances for Everton this season. Under manager Frank Lampard, the 26-year-old has continued to flourish, catching the eye in a deeper central-midfield role. He is currently on international duty with Nigeria, with the Super Eagles preparing for their friendly matches against Algeria.
Nigeria will take on Algeria in two friendly matches. The three-time African champions will play the Desert Foxes’ home-based team tomorrow at the Mohamed Maloiul Stadium in Contastine, followed by the main team on September 27 at the Oran Olympic Stadium.
