Tobi Amusan Officially Becomes Nigeria’s First World Record Holder After Ratification

The World Athletics governing body have finally ratified Tobi Amusan’s world record title race set at the World Athletics Championships.

The Nigerian athletes ran a 12.12s (0.9) in the women’s 100m hurdles semi finals event at the World athletics championships in Oregon to break the existing WR of 12.20s, set by USA’s Kendra Harrison in London in 2016.

Tobi then ran a huge 12.06 (2.5m/s) to win the final but the time was hampered by the wind, meaning that her record will remain at 12.12s as she becomes Nigeria’s first ever World Record Holder and World Champion.
