Edo Athletes Want Ebewele In Sports Commission

Athletes from Edo State have made a plea for the appointment of former commissioner for sports and ex-athlete, Brown Ebewele (Juju Man) as director-general of the state’s sports commission.

Information reaching sports247.ng also indicates that the athletes want Ebewele to oversee revival of sports in the state, then also charged their coaches, officials and administrators to commence preparations for this year’s National Sports Festival in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

With a view towards seeing the state return to their previous height as eternal winners of the festival in years past, sports247.ng can report that the Edo athletes urged their government to quickly set machinery in motion towards a successful outing at Abuja 2018.

A cross section of the athletes also sent a fervent appeal to the the state governor, Godwin Obaseki to empower Edo State Sports Commission to begin preparation for the 19th National Sports Festival in December.

Some of the athletes also said they want Ebewele to be included in the board of the new sports commission, headed by Barrister Godwin Dudu-Orumen.

One of the athletes said: “We actually want Ebewele as the director general of the sports commission because of his wide knowledge and never-say-die attitude in sports.”

“When Igbinedion decided to bring Ebewele as director of the sports council, everything went smoothly for us during Edo 2002 National Sports Festival.

“He also did his best as Sports Commissioner, but we narrowly lost the number one position to Delta at Abuja 2004.
“We need him in the Sports Commission to reposition things as we prepare for Abuja 2018.”
