Nduka Junior, Remo Stars captain has lauded the team’s effort and tenacity for putting up a massive fight against ASFAR FC in the CAF Confederation Cup games to snatch a vital away goal.
Remo Stars played out a 1-1 score line result against the Morocco based club with the return leg set to take place in Ikenne, Remo Stars home ground.
Nduka revealed this in an exclusive interview with Sports247, “It’s a good result for us being young lads and this is our first experience in the continent playing away from home, different weather, fans, turf as well, I know this is not over yet because we have a second leg at our home ground.”
“The experience for me Is a different ball game for me when you go for an away game as this. The fans were massive, supportive all through the intensity of the game.”
“One thing I tell my players is that no matter what happens on the field of play, either we score first or they score is first, we should never give up, don’t stop until it is over.”
“We should keep knocking the door until it’s opened, we got out chances in the first half and we didn’t convert them. I told then after the first half we will score, and we definitely did score just as we did in the pre-season against Kwara United, not a bad result for us going forward.”
The second leg will be played on Sunday, 18 October in Ikenne by 4pm.
Notably, this is Remo Stars first continental appearance after finishing 3rd on 62 points last season in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) which automatically allows them to participate in the prestigious competition.
