Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has continued his sparkling start to the ongoing season with FC Lorient, scoring his fifth French Ligue 1 goal of the season against Lyon on Wednesday night.
Lorient started the game brightly when Enzo Le Fee curled home a free kick after six minutes but Lyon equalized through Alexandre Lacazette in the 28th minute.
Lorient regained the lead five minutes later when Burkinabé forward Dango Ouattara teed up Moffi inside the box. Moffi chipped the ball over the onrushing Lyon goalkeeper to continue his fine start to the season.
The 23-year-old now has five goals from six games this season and is on course to surpass his tally from the previous campaign. He netted eight times in 37 Ligue 1 games last term.
Ouattara got his name to the score sheet a few minutes after the start of the second half. Moffi was involved in the buildup to the goal. The striker did well to keep possession in the middle of the pitch before passing to Congolese international Gedeon Kalulu, whose cross from the right channel found Ouattara at the far post.
Bonke Innocent also played for Lorient and was on the field for the entire game. The Nigerian international completed 96% of his passes and had five recoveries.
After six games, Lorient has 13 points and is currently ranked fifth in the French top flight. Les Merlus has four wins, one draw, and one loss. Next up for them is a home game against Nantes on Sunday.
