Rocky Stars Academy of Isolo would face Puma Football Club of Lagos Island in the final of U-16 Otunba Jide Oni football competition scheduled to hold on Sunday by 2pm at the FIFA legacy pitch of National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The competition which started some weeks ago is being sponsored by Chief Executive Officer of JIDSMA Holding Limited Otunba Jide Oni.
To reach the final stage, Rocky Stars defeated Glory FC, Oshodi 2-1, while Puma FC beat Sunshine FC of Ifako-Ijaiye 5-3 on penalty shootout after 2-2 at the regulation time.
Chairman Organizing Committee, Taofeek Ajibola said he is impressed with the standard of play by the participating teams noted that all the teams were given equal fair officiating throughout the tournament.
He explained that the tournament has brought some talented players to the limelight and commended the cup donor for his contribution to the grassroots football development in the state.
“I must commend all the participating teams for the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited throughout the competition”.
“This is commendable effort by all the teams. I am using the medium to also congratulate the finalists for the job well done. Secondly I should not forget to commend our cup donor, Otunba Jide Oni for channel his resources to support grassroots football in Lagos. I pray that God would give him good health and continue to provide for him in order to sponsor the next edition,” he said.
Meanwhile the organisers said dignitaries from works of life are expected to grace the grand finale and one of the dignitaries expected at the closing ceremony is Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Honourable Bayo Olasoju
