In the aftermath of the defeat against the black Galaxies of Ghana, the captain of the home-based Super Eagles has raised concern about the attitude of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF to the game against Ghana, especially before the return leg in Abuja.
Captain of the Super Eagles team B, Tope Olusesi has called out that the NFF simply left them to their fate, and little wonder they fail to qualify for the CHAN tournament built to hold in Algeria next year. Before now, the coach of the side, Salisu Yusuf had made similar observations known before the encounter but pledged to do his best as coach in the return leg.
Olusesi stressed the level of preparation ghana made before the tie and wished Nigeria did likewise as he thinks Ghana was more hungry for the ticket. “The Ghanaians really showed that they want the ticket, from their preparation to their backup. Even when we went to Ghana, the officiating wasn’t fair. And when they came to Abuja, even the referee was not also fair in Abuja. The NFF did nothing. It’s like the game was not important to the NFF because they left us to our fate to fight for ourselves.”
The Super Eagles team B had to fight back from a two-goal deficit carried over from the first leg in Ghana. Two second-half goals saw the eagles tie on a 2-2 regulation time draw as both teams preceded to penalties. The home-based Super Eagles lost 4-5 on penalties as they lost the ticket to next year’s tournament in Algeria.
