Joe Aribo has expressed his excitement after scoring his first Premier League goal in Southampton’s 2-2 draw against Leeds United on Saturday.
Aribo was introduced in the 61st minute of the game with his side down 2-0. The Super Eagles midfielder scored a sublime goal not long after to give his side hope of getting something out of the game.
The 26-year-old received a pass from Adam Armstrong inside the area, dribbled past the advancing Leeds goalkeeper, and then struck the ball in with his right foot. The goal was his first for the club in his second game.
Southampton got a deserved equalizer in the 81st minute when right-back Kyle Walker-Peters found the back of the net with a low driven shot.
After the match, Aribo took to social media to express his delight. He wrote: “Good fight and spirit from the boys today. What a feeling to score my first Premier League goal, thank you God.”
Southampton’s next league game will be against Leicester City on Saturday, August 20.
