President of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo has posited that Nigerian based professional boxers are actually good and will rival their counterparts from other parts of the world.
Ladipo who recently returned from the Commonwealth Boxing Council Annual General meeting says to have some Nigerian based boxers ranked along some few foreign based boxers is a testament to what they can achieve if exposed to higher and better condition of training facilities.
“Nigeria is a big country blessed with talented and hardworking boxers who can hold their own against anyone if adequately exposed to the modern facilities,” Ladipo revealed in a chat with Sports247.ng
“The Nigerian based professional boxers are good in the capacity and have the ingredients to prove their worth in the boxing game.”
“The domestic boxers are ranked alongside their foreign based counterparts. This shows that we are doing things right here. The only missing flavour in the domestic boxers is exposure to modern facilities and better condition.”
