Head coach of the Morocco women’s national team, Reynald Pedro has admitted that Nigeria’s Super Falcons are the team to beat in Africa.
Pedro will lead his side out against Nigeria today in the second semifinal of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Ahead of the all-important clash, the Frenchman praised Nigeria’s Falcons while also adding that his team is ready for the challenge.
“We are preparing for the game, after the quarter-final game we had time to rest and we are ready for this game,” the 50-year-old said in his pre-match press conference.
“Nigeria is the strongest team in Africa and we know their strength. We need to do our best and we are prepared for the game.
“We know they are strong, they have been the strongest for several years and we are ready. I won’t reveal our plans for the game, but we know what we are facing, we know they are experienced.
“We are focusing on winning, we are in the semi-final and we will see what will happen in the game. We have positive ideas and we will focus until we reach the final.”
After topping their group with maximum points, Morocco defeated The Zebras of Botswana 2-1 to advance to the semis. The host nation will face their toughest test yet in Nigeria, who defeated Cameroon 1-0 in their quarter-final match.
The winner of the tie will play either Zambia or South Africa in the final on Saturday, with those two nations facing off in the other semifinal matchup.
