To monitor and assess players in Nigeria’s local league, Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro continued his tour of the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday in Ogun State yesterday.
Having visited both Kwara state and Akwa Ibom respectively in the past month for the matchday 34 game between Kwara United against Sunshine Stars and Akwa United’s matchday 35 victory against Plateau United, the Portuguese bus stopped in Ikenne on Sunday.
The Portuguese were present in the stands yesterday as Remo Stars pipped eight-time league winners, Enyimba by a lone goal at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun state, to move one step closer to securing their aim of playing continental football next season.
Reacting to the visit of the ‘August Visitor’– the management of the Sky Blue Stars stated they are pleased to be hosting the former Porto and Sporting Lisbon coach in Ikenne.
“We had the pleasure of hosting Super Eagles Head Coach, José Santos Peseiro yesterday in Ikenne.
The Portuguese @josepeseirocoach was gifted our club jersey at halftime in our 1-0 win over Enyimba,” the statement on the club’s social media page read.
Remo Stars will travel to Akure to face Sunshine Stars in their next match of the league while Enyimba will be at home against 19th-placed Dakkada F.C
