CAF CC: Lobi Stars will humble Gor Mahia in Nigeria

Lobi Stars combative defensive midfielder Kelly Kester has stated that it is not all gloomy for the Nigerian league champion despite losing 3-1 away to Gor Mahia of Kenya in the first leg first round CAF Champion’s League tie at the Kasarani stadium in Nairobi on Sunday.

Speaking with Sport247.ng after the game, Kester insisted that scoring away from home is a major positive to take away from the game as all that will be required to do to qualify will be to score two goals which he believes they can achieve just like they won by 2 clear goals in the penultimate game played at home.

He said. “It was a tough game in Kenya and we made couple of mistakes that lead to us conceding some cheap goals but I must tell you I am confident that we will win the return leg on Saturday. The away goal we scored was a moral boos for us and all we need to do now is to score two or more un-replied goals which I am positive we can achieve.”

In our preliminary stage game against UMS de Loum of Cameroon we needed two goals to qualify and we got it. I’m sure Gor Mahia won’t escape it when we meet in Markudi.

The return leg will be played on Saturday December 22 and a win for Lobi will guarantee them a spot in the second round of the highest football club competition in Africa but failure to win will see them crash out and fall into the CAF Confederations Cup playoffs.
