Former Remo Stars Coach, Daniel Ogunmodede Says Leaving Nigeria for CD Feirense “Wasn’t A Wrong Decision”

Over six months since leaving Remo Stars in a great position, Coach Daniel Ogunmodede maintains his stand, not having any regrets over leaving the club to join CD Feirense in Portugal.

Remo Stars had gained promotion to the top flight in Nigeria, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) but was revealed he wouldn’t be leading the team into the campaign but rather joining the Portuguese side as an assistant coach which he says has been a great experience for him.

“It’s been a great adventure and experience for me as a coach, leaving my comfort zone to see new things, culture, ways and methodology of coaching,” Dan tells Sports247.

Daniel Ogunmodede worked under Feirense manager Rui Vítor da Silva Ferreira, who was named as the coach of the season in the Portuguese LigaPro 2022.

“For me it’s an added advantage to my career and dream, working in Europe with one of the best so what more do I look at in gaining than stating it’s an added advantage in mr coaching career and I cherish it so much while trying to take advantage of everything I’ve passed through during the period,” he said.

“The first few days looked like it was impossible because of a lot of challenges, most importantly the language barrier, totally different from what I grew up to speak and know but in the end it’s an advantage to me,” he added.

“I’ve been able to grow more, be a better person and professional, gain more experience and be versatile in the job and not only with my usual Nigeria/African context and I appreciate it. I’m happy I didn’t make the wrong decision and I have a feeling I’m almost there,” he concluded.
