Super Sand Eagles star Victor Tale has stated that the Nigeria Beach soccer national team is excited and remains grateful to God for achieving one of the two targets the team set out to achieve at the just concluded Africa Beach soccer cup of nations in Egypt.
Tale speaking on the Beach soccer national team outing in Egypt said the little success gotten in the tournament was down to the sheer resolve of the players to do the nation proud in Egypt.
“We didn’t get the best of preparation for the tournament the way other countries did but we were determined that we must make ourselves and our country proud and that was why we kept fighting.”
Tale informed Sports247.ng that although the team could not bring back the trophy, they are excited about the World Cup qualification. “Going into the Beach Soccer AFCON we went there with two things on our mind which was to firstly qualify for next year’s World Cup in Paraguay and secondly win the championship and become African champions after a long time.
I am excited we achieved our first aim but it was painful we didn’t win the championship. Honestly we tried our possible best but Senegal is a very strong side with most of their players playing leagues regularly across the world but it is painful we lost.”
Nigeria lost the final in Egypt 6 – 1 to Senegal who retained the trophy they won two years ago in Lagos where they also defeated Nigeria in the final.
