A Lagos-based traveled team, Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club have withdrawn from the ongoing Winners Golden Bet Lagos State Challenge Cup known as Lagos FA Cup.
Speaking with our correspondent early this morning, Prince Kazeem Eletu’s team manager, Muftau Eletu said the team are not ready for the competition and noted that the team head coach, Bilal Sousdi is not around to take the team to the competition.
“Initially we were planning to play the competition but now our head coach who is a French tactician is not in the country now and secondly we are planning for a foreign trip any moment from now so there is no way we can play the FA Cup,” he said.
Muftau disclosed that the team are focusing on the foreign trip saying that the team should not engage in serious football competition for now so the players would not sustain minor or major injury.
*When I called the head coach about the FA Cup, he told me the danger of the competition to the players. He said there is a high possibility that if we play, the players may sustain injuries which may affect our foreign trip. And don’t forget that I said any moment from now, the team would embark on a foreign trip and these are the reasons we considered withdrawing from the Lagos FA Cup,” he said.
Muftau however begged their fans within and outside Nigeria for their immediate withdrawal from the FA Cup and promised that the team would eventually play it next year.
Meanwhile, prince Kazeem Eletu are expected to face Oregun FC today by 12pm at the Rehabilitation center, Isheri, Berger.
