As the 2022 NWFL Super six approaches day three, eyes are now on Bayelsa Queens who trashed Naija Ratels 4:0 in day two of the Super six tournament.
Super Falcons striker Gift Monday scored a hat-trick on Tuesday to help Bayelsa Queens pass through Naija Ratels Women Football Club with ease at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, the Edo State capital.
This victory resulted in shutting the Yenagoa-based club to the top of the table with six points in two matches.
Bayelsa Queens’ top striker Monday Gift opened scoring in the 11th minute with a superb strike, about twenty-five yards away from goal. She then converted a header from a free-kick in the 40th minute to end the first half with a 2-0 score in favour of the Bayelsa Queens.
As if that was not enough, teammate Etim Edidiong further extended the lead in the 59th minute. To put the final nail in the coffin, striker Monday put the game beyond the reach of the Abuja based team in the 62nd minute.

“it wasn’t an easy match. Naija Retals are no push-overs but in the end we created chances and we converted them. They are not a weak team, the girls are quick, and they are good in the midfield, but we took our chances and that was the advantage we had,” Moses Aduku said.
“But this one is gone. It is not clear yet who the favourites are. We don’t see ourselves as favourites, we just play one game at a time and see how it goes,” he concluded.
Bayelsa Queens are top of the table of the super six with six points, having a plus five goal difference with six goals scored and one against the side. Closely following is Nasarawa Amazons with same point but with a plus four goal difference. Delta Queens and Rivers Angels are third and fourth in the log respectively.
Bayelsa Queens will face host and fifth on the table, Edo Queens on Thursday, who have just one point so far. Naija Ratels sit comfortably at the base of the table having lost all two previous games and a goal difference of minus seven.
