Pedro Daniel Orukpe has been turning heads while playing for Zoo United FC in the Nigeria Nationwide League One and is reportedly on the radar of several European clubs.
Daniel Orukpe may not be a household name just yet, but the young Nigerian is certainly one for the future. On loan from Footwork FC, the striker has been impressing in the Nigerian third tier for Zoo United FC this season.
A tall, creative, agile forward with an eye for a goal, Orukpe has been compared to Real Madrid’s talisman Karim Benzema. Although he is usually deployed as a center-forward and can operate as an out-and-out striker, he is also capable of playing in several other offensive positions and has been used on the wing on some occasions.
“We’re on the lookout for strikers with good height and a goal-scoring instinct. And this age is what we are looking for. He fits the bill,” a Belgium football agent tracking the progress of Orukpe told our sources.
“We are not thinking about getting a striker from the NPFL. We are thinking about young players that are still under 19. Since we arrived in Nigeria we have been keeping an eye on him.”
According to reports, a host of clubs from European countries including Italy, Spain, Denmark and Turkey have all been keeping a close eye on Orukpe’s development and are showing interest. Whichever club does manage to tap up the exciting striker at the end of the season will have quite the prospect on their hands.
