Top shots of Nigeria Canoe, Rowing and Sailing Federation have sent a congratulatory message to Yeri Israel Godspower for winning bronze in the Junior C1 men event at the Africa Canoe Championship in Egypt.
Conveying the message in a chat with sports247.ng, secretary-general of the federation, Olubunmi Oluode Ola said it is a feat worth celebrating.
Although critics reckon Yeri fell short in his intial target of winning gold, Ola insists it was a huge achievement by the lad.
Ola added that Yeri, who was accompanied to the competition by one of Nigeria’s top coaches in the sport, Babatunde Jimoh Ahmedu, has raised the bar for other Nigerian competitors to try and surpass.
