Super Sand Eagles captain, Victor Tale has declared that he and his teammates are determined to win the 2018 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations on Friday.
Speaking to sports247.ng in the wake of their victory against the hosts, Egypt in Wednesday’s semi-final, Tale said the players have overcome all odds to reach this far and stressed that they cannot afford to slip up.
Tale admitted that the team’s journey so far this year has not been very pleasant, especially with lack of preparations for the continental show, but he stressed that all the players have resolved to continue battling.
He disclosed further that they encourage themselves to do the nation proud and aim to carry the day in the final, despite the poor preparation they had heading into the event.
Tale also expressed delight at the team’s ticket to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup as a huge achievement, because they achieved it against the hosts, as the match officials appeared to favour the Egyptians.
Tale acknowledged: “It has not been easy getting this far. In fact, playing against the host nation was a very tough task in the semi-final.
“The officiating even seemed to be in favour of the hosts, but our total determination saw us through successfully to the final.
“We only want Nigeria Football Federation to come to our aid and offset all the bonuses and entitlements that we are being owed.
“A lot of money that was due us has been on ground even before this championship. We will appreciate if they can motivate us with it.”
