As the glamorous Nigeria Women Football League NWFL new premiership season enter second week, Edo Queens FC will on December, 15th Wednesday 2021 host the Abuja-based new premiership comers Naija Ratels FC at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City in their first home game of the NWFL premiership title chase.
The Coach Mathew Wemimo- led team who has since resumed training in Benin after their historic 2-0 away thrashing of Adamawa Queens FC in the team’s first away challenge played at the Pantami Stadium Gombe State, are confident of continuing their winning streak as they welcome the visitors on Wednesday.
Ahead of the cracker, the Godwin Obaseki, girls have a marginally higher chance of beating their opponent considering the fact that Naija Ratels fc have consistently suffered defeats in the hands of Edo Queens fc since they came into the scene.
For record purposes, Edo Queens humbled Naija Ratels FC in 2019, in the maiden edition of the Flying officers Cup played at the Ape Aku Stadium Makurdi in Benue State. Edo Queens FC coached by late Gabriel Adejor of blessed memory won the prestigious trophy in that competition.
Both teams also met each other in the second edition of the Flying officers Cup held at the Agiyi Ironsi Sports complex Abuja, Edo Queens won that game.
The third time they played against each other was during the maiden edition of Betsy Obaseki Women football tournament BOWFT held in Benin-City, they were also beaten black and blue.
The last was the recently held third edition of the Flying officers Cup in Abuja, Edo Queens had an upper hand in that encounter, So judging from previous encounters, Edo Queens will feel confident in overcoming Naija Ratels having beaten them four consecutive times in competitive games.
Again, having done so well in their opener against Adamawa Queens FC last week, football fans in Benin are expecting the girls to make an impression particularly now that this will be their first home game. The expectation is high and no matter whose ox is gored Edo Queens must as a matter of fact take risks, play well and score as many goals as possible to be able to maintain top spot in Group A.
In Nigeria football, no team is a push over, Naija Ratels won their first home league match 2-0 against the visiting Osun Babes fc last week. They have the same number of points and goals with Edo Queens. This is why winning this game against Naija Ratels is very is important for Edo Queens.
Nevertheless, it might not be wrong to conclude that our girls are battle ready to do the State proud on Wednesday.
